The first China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo, a three-day event, came to a close on June 29.
As the recommended translation service provider by the Secretariat of the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo Organizing Committee, YARACE was responsible for guiding in Chinese, English and French for officials from African countries and China.
During the event, YARACE provided guiding services in Chinese for Chinese officials and in English and French for officials from African countries, totaling 21 guest delegations from June 26 to 27.
In order to satisfactorily complete the guiding tasks arranged by the organizing committee, YARACE offered specialized training for the guides at the Hunan Museum, and organized them to make good preparations for the expo, for example, asking them to post their exercise videos regularly via the WeChat group chat to keep track of them.
Before the expo, YARACE assisted in the rehearsal for the 19 guides, who were divided into 2 groups. The two groups entered the exhibition site, Hunan International Convention and Exhibition Center, on the afternoons of June 25 and June 26 respectively to rehearse their guiding along the guide routes on site.
During the rehearsal, the guides wore specialized devices to rehearse their guiding and familiarized themselves with the locations of all exhibition pavilions, so that they could better serve the guest delegations that they would be responsible for. Every guide should bear in mind the resources of each African country, the leading enterprises of each Chinese province and city, etc.
On the day of the opening ceremony, the guides woke up at 5 o'clock on the morning to make preparations, including their clothes, shoes, and makeup, and were ready for their service as early as 6:30.
During the expo, each guide fully utilized their professional expertise and conducted guiding calmly and flexibly.
The English guide Huang Yu was assigned to provide guiding for a 44-people delegation led by Palamagamba John Kabudi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation of the United Republic of Tanzania, from 3 o'clock on the afternoon of June 28. She waited at the entrance 50 minutes in advance for the delegation. As Minister Kabudi had a special interview with CCTV, Huang took the opportunity to collect relevant information about the expo for him. After the interview, Huang specifically introduced Shandong Pavilion, Zhejiang Pavilion, and other Chinese pavilions that Minister Kabudi was interested in. Finally, Minister Kabudi thanked Huang for her enthusiasm and expressed his pleasure in participating in the expo.
